Maybe instead of having 2-3 super slow (and I mean as slow as continental drift) people doing the paperwork and eye tests where 1 of them disappears for an hour or more they can have say 10 people to get through the applicants. It's really not rocket science in fact it is a very basic solution but these plebs are to dense to do better than blame it on someone or something.

What do you propose the newspaper must do to fix it?

NOTHING ....

I meant the traffic department(s) felt the need to inform us all (via the news media), but THEY (Traffic) will not lift a finger to fix said problem

The newspaper don't have to do sh|t :p

Ai, now I know why I cannot get a slot for my drivers license to be renewed. First of all, I'm not paying any company to book for me, nounou they book me a slot in some deserted place.
Also, I blame the shortage of slots as well. Corrupt, lazy bunch of thieving officials who accept bribes to put his/her comrades first.
I have to renew my license soon, bloody hell!

So Rapport didn't investigate and find the real reason, this company booking thing was told to Rapport by the department (who actually says it is due to officials)?

I live in Pretoria East and had to take the first booking I could find after about 2 weeks of trying to get a booking in Pretoria. So Marlboro was the winner (and closest one available).

Really bad "service", but that's nothing new when it comes to government departments...

Not sure if this still works but I had a Co worker inserting a slot for himself using browser developer tools back in end 2019 for a learner license.

At that time there seemed to be no backend validation whatsoever. Not sure if it changed.

It took me over a month to get a slot for licence card renewal. I only succeeded by attempting to get a slot at random times on random days, even though they said Tshwane loads them on Tuesday (bullsht). The most annoying part was having to enter ALL my information every time before seeing if there were any slots. You would think a half decent website (enatis) would have logins and profiles, so you don't need to recapture everything. But no - it is fill and forget only. Garbage. I bet it cost hundreds of millions to code.

Soon a total collapse - like etolling in Gauteng - then we will be able to just drive without a licence.

No.
An shortage of slots is the problem.

Solutions:
  1. More Slots
  2. Pre-Payment for test at booking
If they did (2)
  • Bookings would be attended and as you've paid $$$.
  • Would reduce queues at cashier (I spent 45m in the cashier queue)
  • Would lessen corruption.
  • Would free cashiers to the testing team
Best solution: don't require a periodic renewal of the licence card. Which is merely a tax.

Yes, I was wondering what the percentage of no-shows is, which could have gone to other people.
There will be no shows regardless. You work that into the system.

First problem - simplistic 'sysyem' based on 'slots' (queue mentality)! Second problem - idiots working at the lisencing offices who won't use even this simple attempt at a 'system'. Expect more of the same in future.
