The Rugby thread

This performance frlm The Sharks is embarrassing. Thankfully Toulous is also very sloppy because it could have been like 30+ already.

Sharks are out. They are getting worse each week they play. It wasn't going to be an easy game but Sharks did not even show up.

That Toulouse side is stacked though!! Possibly the strongest club in world rugby.

As a spectacle is was hard to watch.
Thats a bit of a stretch. Dupont and Ramos are on a different planet for sure

The Sharks team should be up there with all those springboks they have.

Poor coaching perhaps

Didn't expect them to win but it felt like they also didn't expect to win because they didn't show up at all.

We just needed some sort of effort but nothing. No plan no energy nothing.

Those much lauded Springboks are average club players. It's Rassie that brings out the best in them.

Another rather bleak Saturday for our sides, with the exception of the Stormers. I expect the Cheetahs to sneak home against Zebra tomorrow.... hell man, we battling to compete on 2 fronts...

You just look at the players these European sides are fielding. Full of foreign internationals where the Saffa's are all, 100% home grown.... European club need a few world class props, they'll contract a Argentinian or a couple of Georgians. They pulling internationals off of their benches. It's simply not a level playing field...

It's not a level playing field at all and to top it off our coaches disrespect this league by not sending their best players. It's a recipe for failure. At this rate I don't see a SA team EVER winning a champions cup.

Part of the Sharks' problem is that their players are probably due an extended period of rest.

Eben has concussion issues. The other Boks don't look like themselves. Think 2024 took a lot out of the Bok players.

A monumental international season following a monumental 2023. Thry play all year round.

Many of them are well beyond 30 now as well.

It can be construed as disrespectful but really it's more about focussing resources on the URC. Success in the URC remains the short term goal, challenge and champions cup is the long term goal.

One can't flog the top players week after week after week. Not only are there mandatory rest periods but fielding your best 23 repeatedly can only end one way.

So 5 English and 4 French teams in the top 4 of the Champions Cup pools so far...

What is our excuse again? Too much rugby and tired players and the challenges playing all these leagues but the English has the Premiership and French has the Top 14 and now they going to the Six Nations.

The only disadvantage I see is they have way more foreign players but other than that the challenges are pretty much the same and they find ways to win.

Can't even sey we are focusing on the URC because we aren't really bossing it either we are just getting enough results to stay relevant there.
