You would think that being a Councillor in a Party that is in charge of council that runs the city would help.

I suspect JRA are all ANC agents and are just dragging their feet because they lost.

In all honesty, after the floods in Durban we all got a very quick education in just how impotent councilors are. They may have slightly better access to departments than the residents, but it doesn't translate into anything concrete, they have to use roughly the same reporting processes we do and then it just gets lost in the chaos.

Obviously DA councillors in an ANC run council will be useless.

Without a doubt, but even the ANC councilor was unable to get anything done, on top of being totally useless and only giving a vague passing shyte about the section of the Ward that voted for him.

Durban seems to be back to normal as far as visitors are concerned though? December was busy as usual - so I heard.

While that is true, My Broadband is not a good sample of SA voters.
Brief reading of some threads tells me that there are hardly any ANC/EFF supporters here so I don't get the angry discourse of political threads. Seems echo chamber to me so far.
