What is the court going to do? "I order this power station to fix itself and start working!"

Courts can't fix stupid.
It's more about politicking than anything else, going to court will give the perception of a party fighting for the people.

Won't fix nothing. We all know what the problem is.

What else should be done until next year?

We can't get an early election. ANC won't all of a sudden change unless ordered by a court anyway. The opp in Parly's hands is tied since they don't have numbers.

So seriously, what should be done seeing that protests and court cases are disqualified?

Get WC energy independent already and stand on their soap box shouting look what happens when you vote DA at the rest of the country when they have no loadshedding. The ANC don't change even when ordered by a court. We've all seen this already.

The City has implemented a first round of the bidding process for independent power producers, for a total capacity of 300MW, mostly solar power, to come online from 2026. A second round of 500MW will go to market in 2 weeks’ time and this power is also expected to come online from 2026.

• To complement this programme, the City has implemented a programme of buying surplus solar-generated electricity from commercial entities. This is to encourage businesses, and eventually households too, to install rooftop solar panels.

• Cape Town is the only City to have implemented a wheeling power pilot, in which a number of private entities sell power they have generated to third parties using the city’s distribution system, for a small fee.

• Currently, around 90% of Western Cape municipalities allow small-scale renewable energy to feed in to the grid. 20 municipalities compensate households or businesses that feed excess energy back into the network.
Already doing that.

Any other actual suggestions or not?

Laughable to remember that when the WC became a DA run province, the ANC were quick to claim it was in their power and they would not hesitate to intervene if necessary.

Ramaphosa said of the response: “It does show that there are certain things that do work, even as we may think that the wheels are coming off, on everything. The fact that they (firefighters and emergency services) were here, in a short space of time, is something that we should be grateful for – that we do have one city that works, we do have a province that works, and we do have a government that works when the chips are down. And this is a demonstration of precisely that.”

A lot of talk with no tangible results. 2026? Jeez, how long have they had to solve this?

No, but court cases and rallies will achieve nothing and we will still sit in the dark for 12 hours a day.

There is nothing physical they can do but court cases, rallies and protests put pressure on the ANC and like headless chickens they running around aimlessly. Bad publicity and awareness of how inept the ANC is.

Still an indictment on his own party, LMAO.

I think the dilemma is simple for them, there are easier ways that they could use to make decent progress on being energy independent, at least to some degree, but most of those ways impact on their bottom line and that's not what they are aiming for.

As I said previously municipalities might have very good rhetoric on how they want to protect their residents against Eskom increases and Eskom loadshedding but doing that should not come at the expense of the money they make out of the residents.

For me it looks like that's where the problem is, how to deliver you from Eskom into their grubby paws and make sure all your money comes to them, without you suspecting anything, that will take a long time to figure out, that's why everything is moving at a snail pace. For the DA they need to come up with something to give an impression that they are doing something to fight for the people, that's where the marches and court cases comes in.
