Actually SOEs like the Post Office are very strategic, and can be very useful if they are run well in a country such as ours. I don't know how deep the hole is that they find themselves after all the mismanagement but it doesn't look good.
Bruv, they're beyond saving.

They've closed branches, reduced salaries multiple times, and not many people use them (and those who do complain that either they never get their stuff or their stuff is damaged)...

So you're right that they would've been useful if this was another country, but here... Couriers have practically usurped them.

Also, didn't the gov in a desperate attempt announce they were going to create a law making the PO the only operator that's allowed to deliver sub-1KG-packages in SA? Couriers went to court and everything...
Mark Barnes had plenty good idea about the P O, he is the only CEO at the time who has real vision you could relate to, pity they lost him.
I might be misremembering, but didn't he once make an offer for the PO? ANC should've jumped at the chance, perhaps worked out a Telkom-type deal or maybe something akin to the 51% SAA thing.

One problem at a time brother.
Thing is there are so many mosquitos you'll never get them all. Tomorrow night there'll be a new batch, and the day after and after that.

If you don't ever step back and look at the big picture you'll be chasing mozzies all your life while the lady of the house, your leaders, is letting the hyenas through the back door for your chomping..

During Marks time they were very likely rescueable.... Now they aren't, the only solution is to liquidate it and move on. That largely applies to the vast majority of SOEs though.

I will only attend the march if we can throw dead baby chickens and rotten eggs at Luthuli House.

I don't get the CT march, where are they marching to? Is there a CT version of Luthuli House?

Camps Bay, Llandudno etc. Don't most of the ANC bigwigs have houses there?

2 weeks have come and gone. Unless we're talking ANC time...
At this point, we could doubt that there'll be a cabinet reshuffle at all...
