Do you see what I am seeing? :p:p

Worded very carefully though... the number is "Access to FBS"... not actively getting them

BUT it does bring into question the number the DA is punting though without a doubt.

Ekurhuleni special council sitting scheduled for Wednesday to elect mayor

A special council sitting to elect a mayor for the Ekurhuleni municipality is scheduled for Wednesday.

The city has been without a mayor after Tania Campbell was ousted in a motion of no confidence on 26 October.

One hundred councillors supported the motion, with 93 opposing it.

Following her ousting, Campbell, a DA member, hinted that she might be back within a week. The ANC brought the motion to remove her.

The party has yet to confirm the expectation that former mayor and ANC regional chairperson, Mzwandile Masina, will be a candidate. The DA coalition will also field a candidate.

The numbers for a majority government in the city are 113, and neither the ANC, with its supporting partners in council, nor the DA coalition have enough seats to govern comfortably.

The EFF had abstained from voting to remove Campbell.

Or, it must be my phone because no numbers were displayed when I opened it.

Possibly...

But also looking at eThekwini from that site, the number must be the theoretical number based on something, becuase in eThekwini the number is 216529 which is damned high. Nearly a 3rd of the customer base.

Also its a downright lie as well. 0 households in eThekwini are using the bucket system for solid waste management. Pull the other one.

I have a reasonable explanation. ANC looked at DA claim of umngeni and paid webmaster to change stats. Kingsman can't be wrong.

@ToxicBunny - it is ok to doubt DA claim. It won't alienate you from other high IQ members here.

Only 133 households were receiving free basic services under the ANC government? Am I the only one who finds that hard to believe?

That sounds like a load of bullschit

Municipality's normally publish their listing annually for objections. Trying to find Umngeni's

Glad I am not the only one.

The most likely scenario would be the ANC having everyone on FBS, including those who can afford to pay for services just merely because they live in a township, we have seen it in many other areas, Ekurhuleni most recently.

The fight for the DA would have been to get the entitled leeches off the indigent register that is full to the brim, not signing them up, that's why my BS meter went wild when I saw the numbers.

It was a minor accounting glitch - DA

I saw that Surfy

I'm trying to find the list of actual names. They get published annually for objection purposes. Those figures sound dodge anyways. The numbers should be similar year on year with some slight upward movement.

While I am not ruling your scenario out (I don't know Umngeni) it doesn't sound likely

I am familiar with how it works in my little dorpie which is similar in size to Howick. Like I mentioned earlier a list gets published annually for objections. The muni also runs checks with SASSA etc.

I don't phuza bastid so don't look at me funny :p

Of course we're gonna look at you funny... you deserve it

Found the list btw, and it seems to be 2609 people/houses long... : https://www.umngeni.gov.za/about-community-services-clone-3/

So even if the DA is now dishing out services to 3005 people, I'm not sure why they'd punt the 133 number if its wrong, since they've increased the FBS number by over 10% which is a damned fine achievement whilst making the muni even more financially stable at the same time.

Yes that's it! Thanks! As I expected way more than the 133 the DA is claiming. Seems like Pappas is just another politician as I suspected
