Btw while I'm tagging you @Priapus, have you progressed any further with Long Walk to Freedom?

Unfortunately not. It got a little too dense for me; but I plan too pick it up again this week. What I need to do is fine a good time to do reading - otherwise I also just forget.

Same. And the copy at the library is close to wrecked. So I'm rather gonna buy a copy off Takealot.

I recommend doing it at bedtime. Helps you fall asleep quicker as well (yes, the rumours about that are true).

I wonder why? Maybe the ANC needs to regroup?

Either way, it buys her and the DA more time, for now.
It's probably, because the ANC and their speaker sock puppet don't want another smack down in court. The issue with the motion may have been that they tabled it preemptively in anticipation of the court's ruling. That kind of expediency can be challenged - so, they'll now have to go sit with their "girl not doing it for herself" and consult with their legal minds before bringing another motion.

I heard a sound byte on the radio where Mulder says to save the coalition in Gauteng the DA must do a bit of introspection. The DA have been happily blaming everyone but themselves for those coalitions failing. I think the FF+ are right, the DA must re-think or abandon coalitions if they are incapable of working with partners. UF my ass.

Okay, so ANC/DA coalition not off the table at national level. John's reasoning seems sound. He says rather that, than ANC/EFF - because then its game over for SA, essentially.

Also says we need ANC below 46% for a decent outcome - 49% is not going to cut it.

Funnily enough, in the interview with JS I posted earlier he talked about the "arrogance" claims. And mentioned that the DA will of course be blamed for everything since they're the biggest party in said coalition.

The whole "arrogance" thing will be the main baton used by the small parties including FF+ against the DA in the run-up for 2024.

And the other parties have also been solely blaming the DA for what happened in JHB...
UF my ass.
It's a collective term to describe the multi-party opposition governments. I don't know why it bothers you so...

So just catch me up quickly, I once suggested that the DA could eliminate the EFF problem by working with the ANC in the metros, that was clearly not well received and it was even suggested that I am giving room for the ANC to come in through the back door, you were part of those who were totally not keen on the idea.

So how is it now that the same thing make sense when it said by John and he is suggesting for national government as a way to eliminate the EFF? What is the difference in doing that at national compared to local government?

You seem rather open to the idea now compared to when I was suggesting it?

Of course, you'd share that article lol.
The DA has resoundingly rejected CI multiple times.

And I like the point MW makes about "They only do it for WC, CI confirmed!!!!". That's the only province atm where they could develop systems for it and succeed. Naturally, if the DA proposed to do this nationwide off the bat, the ANC would swat them down harder than they already did. And why aren't they allowed to work with other organisations who agree with them solely on this point?

If the UF come to power, then they'd naturally implement nationwide...

Yes, as a catch-all term for the opposition coalitions nationwide.

I just observed that the term has riled you up in recent weeks...
Not riled, just observing that there's no unity on that front. I'd have thought it obvious. But as you were.

Since working with the reason why said muni is destroyed is of course a big brain move.

I haven't watched that part of the interview yet.

I remember from others, it was said that they'll consider coalescing with ANC split-offs (something like COPE and so on, or if a Rama faction breaks away), but not with ANC prime.

But their preference is to form a UF coalition.
