Yup its all about spin, but for me someone needs to stand up and be above the spin and lay down the facts... and if the facts are that nothing significantly horrid happened then say so.
That's something politicians are never keen on, because no one is clean, so the DA can pretend to care about the people of Gauteng run to the SAHRC about Rand Water, while they are also not providing clean water to the residents of Hammanskraal in Tshwane. The ANC can also latch onto something in the WC and run to the public protector, if it will show the DA up.
That is the kind of a relationship they have, no one is actually interested in facts because there will probably be facts that points to your weakness, so the great fight is the PR fight, who can spin the most elaborate story that would be bought by the masses, obfuscate, tell half truths as long as your story wins the day you get to claim the moral high ground.
Our politicians are also helped in part by the fact that the public would believe a tale if it comes from their favourite politician, so even if we see that something doesn't add up we want to believe it if it puts our favourite party or politician in good light, so there is hardly any space for facts because facts have a tendency of being inconvenient.
