As far as corruption, violence and everything the DA might say about the ANC, the IFP is exactly the same thing, they are just working with a smaller budget, the only reason the DA are drawn to them is because they are the only party that has a chance at unseating the ANC in KZN, while not being a threat to the DA nationally.

Also, IFP are very right-wing.

The evidence suggests it was a right-wing movement aimed also proped up by the Apartheid Government back in the day as an opposition to the ANC and to make sure the ANC would not get an outright majority.

FF+: Zulu Edition, like I said...

They weren't explicitly created by the old regime for that. They were in opposition to/rivals of the ANC, yes. Like many others (Black Consciousness, AZAPO) who the ANC absorbed eventually using tactics, I mention below.
It is also said that rogue elements in the old regime's security structures (CCB), funded and abetted rogue units in the IFP. (By De Klerk's admission in his autobiography)

But to get to your claim. IFP wasn't controlled opposition to the ANC by the old regime if that's what you meant.
And funnily enough, since IFP was quite popular at some point and would've of course prevented the ANC from getting a 2/3 majority (can't remember if it was the late-70s or mid-80s), the ANC went out of their way to destroy the IFP (propaganda as in they're against the struggle, they're NP puppets, the "third force" thing, etc. Assaults, assassinations), which the IFP returned in like, of course, for the most part.

Where did I learn all this you might ask?

It's a good read. Shatters a lot of the narratives the ANC have set up over the years.

Two by-elections today, both in KZN.

The DA is on defence in ETH Ward 10. (Almost 80% vote share last year, the only party to gain maybe is ASA. If DA can improve vote share however, that could also be a morale booster for DA)
The ANC is on defence in Alfred Duma Ward 9. (I wonder if the IFP will take this ward as well).

Yet again, it doesn't look like ASA is contesting this by-election. Says quite alot about the party when they couldn't be bothered or couldn't find a suitable for a ward they came 2nd...

They were the National Party puppets, that's not a tale or propaganda created by the ANC.

They aren't? I'm sure they have a reasonable explanation such as "we're still building the party", etc.
