The SA Politics Thread Part 7 - The Truly GNU Dawn

DM seems to have nice infographics but I wonder how much about it is just speculation and how much is real based on actual documents.
Let's just say they would be shred to pieces in court. Journalism is simple, the public is generally not interested in facts, we are interested in stories that reinforce the biases and conspiracies we already have, not to say their stories are devoid of the the truth, but there is usually much more sensationalism that the truth in their stories.

Being in court is a totally different thing, that's why many witnesses fall apart in court.

And there Shahan says the quiet part out loud:

If you're a journalist, it doesn't somehow get sent to the shadow realm because you have another job.

And at the end he says "I am being fair, IAN!".

Dude, you just said you're not objective, so how is that exactly fair, then?
Looks like the 'journalists ' thought theyd have an easy target for views and Ian is in the process of schooling them and makijg them look stupid.

Forget about Daily Maverick, they are not the ones who would have to present a watertight case in court that would withstand scrutiny from the most learned lawyers, writing stories is easy.
Excuses to protect criminals.

Loved this by Ian. Didn't rant or get personal. Just told the journo to **** off politely.

The more the journo wanted to spin around the "incident", the more Ian said "Hey, this isn't what you said you wanted to talk about, you're twisting my words".

This is why he is not mature enough to become the Minister of Police, he's still wet behind the ears

WOW, I hope that journalist gets burnt hard for his lack of actual journalism.

Loved it. And so true... all they care about it 10 years ago something he did (and being addressed). And not even talking about the crime rate. No wonder SA is in the shitter...

Get the feeling SABC just wanted to point to white guy = bad guy

How is defending himself calmly and politely, immature?

If anything that was not a calm, reasoned and patient protrayal, he was being brute, interupting the host, deflecting on questions, wanting to steer the interview. I like the guy but that was a total disaster, he was too quick to anger, could'nt hold a civil debate, he was too jittery.

This is someone one likes (now) but he was a very silky smooth sexagenarian who was very mature even with a hostile interviewer.

What video did you watch?

I did for the first 5minutes, it was painful to go further on and listen

Not SABC

We are wondering how long the NPA has been sitting on this without taking action against the EFF criminals.
It ain't just EFF I think. SACP already fingered and then this:

"Former ANC treasurer-general Dr Zweli Mkhize allegedly requested R2 million from former VBS Mutual Bank chairperson Tshifhiwa Matodzi." and "Still in Limpopo, Matodzi also named former Limpopo ANC treasurer Danny Msiza as a beneficiary of the VBS cash." and so on. Could be interesting if Ms Batohi (and Master Kieswetter) can get off their backsides. I give it 50/50 max for anything to happen to Mkhize et al.

Good idea, with the VBS thing blowing up the EFF will be more desperate to leverage any power they have to their benefit, making them even more unpredictable.

But it will be interesting to see if Action SA will still sulk in the corner, they have a decent vote share in the city, politicians are politicians at the end of the day, at the end of the day questions are going to be asked of Mashaba's leadership.

Egos have no place in politics.

Been a helluva week in SA politics that's for sure. Oh the times they are a changing....
