As you can see, most Afrikaner voters are moderate (hence backing the DA).

Of course, verkramptes plus only has 10%. While the verligtes (who vote ANC/EFF and bitter exes like ASA, etc) make up 15% (more than VF+ hilariously enough).

It's why the VF+ have assumed panic stations. Unless they get protest votes if there's another leadership ****-up like MM or otherwise backing from DA voters, they won't get any further amongst Afrikaner voters...

So you could rank support amongst Afrikanerdom like so:
  1. moderates
  2. verligtes
  3. verkramptes

Winde, however, backed Zille's remarks.

"It is a coalition and not actually a GNU. But I know why it's called a GNU because it makes it a lot easier for the ANC to understand that they only got 40% [in 2024] and 62% [in 1994] when Nelson Mandela invited other parties as a gesture to form a government," he said.

In a way, yeah. I mean without either ANC or DA, there'd be no government. Even the statement of intent clearly enunciates who the two big dogs are and who will make the big decisions.

I think the whole GNU thing was to cash in on 1994 GNU memories and to provide decent cover for both ANC and DA.

Especially ANC, since Rama would face a mutiny if they went for a direct coalition with DA.

Winde and Zille are smoking their socks.
 
While Zille and Winde are going around telling everyone it's a coalition and not a GNU, the Liberation Movement has:

1. Managed to pass budget with a minority government in Gauteng.
2. Managed to get a man who swore on his grandfather's grave never to work with the ANC in 300 years into our corner.
3. Took back control of Ekurhuleni
4. Taking back Joburg soon.
5. And the best for last, together with the Freedom Front we managed to kick out the DA in two municipalities in the Western Cape.

We are only getting started, Zille might have the groot bek, but Cyril has the Frog Boiling skills, we move.
