The SA Politics Thread Part 8 - The Truly GNU Dawn, or is it?

I am seeing a consistent goebbels like narrative - Panyaza is racist, corrupt and dictator, incompetent - without giving an iota of evidence.

Speculation - WA group alignment perhaps *?

*DA fan shortly to speculate about me wearing tinfoil hat and my studio implosion.
As I said it's not going to work out, but you know how insistent the DA is when they think they have stumbled on a winning formula.

Negative campaigning is very bad, and the DA wanting to influence ANC politics from outside is just going to make Panyaza even more stronger, there's nothing that unites ANC and non ANC people more than some right wing inspired campaigning that the DA and Afriforum have started, it's just going to unite all those on the left, MK, EFF, Cosatu, SACP behind Panyaza and the ANC will just be a very grateful beneficiary.

It's looking like SA is going the route of the Good O'l USofA. A dearth of leaders to choose from!!

Yeah, yeah, I know, we've been there for a long time.

Not really. Trump will be elected soon so as to restore glory to the empire. We don't have anyone as talented as him.

Perhaps most significantly of all, former President Mbeki mentions in his letter that he has personally inspected the relevant WhatsApp conversation and is satisfied that the remarks were in no way racist:

“We ourselves have also closely studied the comments made by the chat group, independently to determine whether these constituted manifestations of racism and hate speech.

Our own firm conclusion is that there is no such manifestation in the said comments. We therefore fully agree with the Ruling of the SGB DC on the matter of the 12 learners in the chat group.”[7]

Former President Mbeki further states that “It seems, for some reason, that the GDE is very determined at all costs to smear the PHSG with the charge of racism.”[8]

Former President Mbeki expressed dismay at the bullying and harassment which the principal had been subjected to:

“On 18 July 2024, a group of learners accosted the Principal, Mrs Erasmus, as she was walking inside the grounds of the PHSG, in the presence of a GDE official. They screamed at her, demanding "We want change", showing absolutely no respect for her both as the Principal and a parent.

No action was taken to reprimand the learners concerned, precisely to reinforce respect for a Member of the School Management as senior as the Principal, and thus avoid the eventuality of the School falling victim to anarchy or ungovernability.

This situation was made worse by obliging the same Principal to appear at a School Assembly to make an unwarranted apology to the learners, some of whom had treated her with contempt the previous day.

The question arises - what did the GDE seek to achieve by treating the very Head of the School in this shameful and humiliating manner?”[9]

He was equally critical of the GDE’s decision to move the Deputy Principal to the District Office:

“There is also the matter of the suspension of the Deputy Principal and her transfer to District Offices of the GDE, there to work as an administrator / bureaucrat.

We are talking here of a senior teacher of Physical Science with 20 years of experience in this vitally important subject in our country, even as the learners were preparing to write their Matriculation examination.
Is this how we should treat our 'valued partners in the collegial task to bring up the New Citizen'?”[10]

Former President Mbeki's recommendations include the following:

“Accordingly, we hold the unequivocal view that the GDE erred in acting against the persons concerned on the basis of the false allegation that the chat group made comments which amounted to racism and hate speech.

Accordingly, we propose that the GDE must, without delay:

• terminate the Principal's suspension and allow her to return to her job at the PHSG;

• allow the Deputy Principal to return with immediate effect to her job at the PHSG;

• address the School Assembly to explain its actions; and,

• reconsider halting the investigation instituted by the GDE which we understand is currently underway.”[11]

This will hurt the Lesufiites in the thread...

We queried SASSA’s public portal with 300,000 ID numbers for February 2005 at a rate of 700 per minute. The first problem is that this shouldn’t be possible. A competent system with basic security would have limited the rate at which we could query it.

We would have considered this a mere bug, informed SASSA and given them an opportunity to fix the problem before disclosing it. Except we discovered a bigger problem.

We found that 74,931 SRD grant applications were made for people born in February 2005. According to Statistics South Africa (as of 2020) there were 82,097 births in February 2005. This would mean that the application rate is roughly 91%. It is extremely unlikely that so many applications were made by people born in this month.

We also processed the first 500 male and 500 female IDs of people born on 1 January, from 1960 to 2006. Our findings show that there was an average application rate of 52% for all of the years, but when looking at people born between 2002 and 2006, the application rate becomes roughly 90%. This is notable because it reflects the application rate of people who have turned 18 since the grant was first issued in 2020. A 90% application rate is extremely unlikely to have occurred naturally - it is disproportionately large and reeks of fraud.

Using the same reasoning you might as well say Ramaphosa has "links" to the Alex Mafia, so does David Makhura and pretty much any Gauteng ANC politician.

Why are you that desperate to even ignore facts to link him to the Alex Mafia when it has been widely reported on who is alleged to be part of this Alex Mafia? You sound like a very reasonable person who values the credibility of their political commentary here, why don't you leave the desperate stuff to the less fortunate?
Using the same reasoning - obvuously - we might as well say that Helen Zille came from Hendrik Verwoerd's ballsack...? ;)

Herman destroyed ASA.
I think it's cute that there are still ASA supporters who believe there is a future within which ASA exists meaningfully. They won't exist in 4 years time, but it's cute that they're still hanging around. To be fair, even I had high hopes that Herman might bring another option into SA politics, but he has simply been corrupted within the sphere of SA politics. Sad and a real shame, to be honest. I kinda liked him.

Oh well **shrugs**

They will exist next election. They will just become another GOOD with one or two elected officials. Mashaba will cry and moan that the DA destroyed him and will either throw in his lot with the ANC, EFF, MK or emigrate to the US like his kids.

I live to pop the balloons that are their fantasies. They say I'm biased yet I want the DA in power in KZN but not in Gauteng and they think they are the ones to speak about bias when they don't want the EFF and other parties in power in KZN, GP and anywhere else in SA.
