Given the high level of demand there will be for this service they'd better provision a 56k modem.

They are being rediculous, sabc is/ was a taxpayer funded government mouthpiece subsidized in part by advertising and should stay that way even though they can't even get that right.
Sabc is overstaffed and bankrupt, employees are overpaid, under perform, and mostly clueless.
I mean really.. Close it down now and save everyone the embarrassment.

The title of the article is incorrect.

It should be " Steaming Service" as the entire solar system knows this endeavor is going to be utter crap.

I didn’t read the article, but the headline is pretty much descriptive and as things are standing now, I have to disagree. It isn’t the streaming service which is crucial to its survival it is going to be the horrible, but expensive plumped up TV licence which will be expected to be paid by law by the middle and upper class whilst employing their competition by law to do the collection.

Then the concerns that it will be 'tender' powered, and that it is an incompetent business still run by a corrupt state. In addition to the tax payers practically ensuring that the SABC survives by being instructed by law to pay the TV licence they will also have to repeatedly bailout the SABC when the need arises. All the while monies are squandered or made its way into the trough, in a maladministration enterprise.

Anyway.
