I think the SABC might be overestimating how many people actually want to watch their crap, let alone pay a 3rd party excessive data rates to do so

You will be surprised how many millions of daily viewers there are for the local native tongue soap operas. It's millions and millions.
These poor people can hardly afford the R265 a year as it is over the braai grid antennas

If the analogue broadcasting gets switched off they're are gonna get very angry. Unless the top boxes allow incoming signals without a valid tv licence

coming soon, Telkom one will be the ONLY legal streaming service,

the small boys of Netflix and Amazon prime and Disney + will have to pay the prices of Telkom one
in order to legally stream in SA.

get your VPN's ready, your going to need it quite soon.

The SABC will generate revenue through Telkom’s new online streaming service through both a licensing fee and a revenue share agreement.
Discrimination
I want the TelkomOne APP to do an SABC TV License validation when you sigh up.
This would make it fair to all those that do pay the SABC TV License.

Telkom and the SABC are both state owned. No state owned companies have ever made money. What makes them think that they will start now. The SABC should be privatized and the TelkomONE plan has to be subscribed to in order to generate cash. Can they possible compete with Netflix and Showmax Amazon Prime Vide and others? Never! Also....how can they tax mobile handsets? We, the public choose what to look at on our phones not the SABC. I have never looked at the SABC on my cellphone only DSTV. Besides, the SABC have never, and I repeat, never had any good overseas content to offer. What makes them think they will get it now? I wouldn't be surprised if Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney etc. would pay any tax in lieu of the latest double taxation involved (read My Broadband today) If prices go up it will hurt the end user who has limited cash anyway to spend on entertainment. Forget it Government, get you tax elsewhere and stop wasting time and money! Always trying to get cash from the public unfairly. Note: The SABC need another bailout (R1.5 bn) which will come from where? Now Mr SABC etc., think about where it will come from and then think again.
