The South African Post Office tested – 100% failure rate

The South African Post Office (SAPO) has a reputation of very poor service levels, which includes slow delivery times, lost packages, website downtime, and poor communication with clients.

In fact, the Post Office has become so poor that many South Africans avoid using the service unless they have no other choice.

The Gods bless the private sector who, once again, stepped up to fill the gap left by a parastatal.

Now if they could only change legisltion around private energy supply...

Indeed. Parcel sent from Richards Bay to Centurion with Postnet2Postnet for R99. Parcel sent from Richards Bay Postnet @ 11:45am on 30/08/18 and Delivered to Postnet Hennopspark 4:00am 31/08/18 Ready for collection as soon as they opened.

No way in hell Post office can even compare. The Postnet2Postnet service is a 2-3Days service but was delivered in less than 24 hours 680km away. There is no hope for SAPO and I have to say this but the workers there are just eating money because if anything SAPO has actually gone backwards.

Any point to the sapo threads other than time [and materials] wasted?

It's good to expose SAPO as much as possible, lest they get away with the drivel the article mentions them claiming.

If it helps you then great, but I've haven't used post in a long time. I don't even have post office box; stopped bothering with it for a good few years.

Notice how it says urgent  These 2 updates only arrived today. They're 6 months late :cautious:

But we already covered this in the vodacom thread

Absolutely this, people will moan but will not move. Vodacom will milk them as long as they can, and I do not blame them.

Then I wondered well that's a kind of slacktavism with bit of activism lite of expose or as @Bryn says

/fondly remembers a time I could get something delivered by SAPO instead of couriers to save money

MyBB is one of the most popular websites in SA. Very negative headlines about SAPO are much more likely to instigate a response from them (or someone who can boss them around) than some people moaning on a forum. That's not to say SAPO has the will to improve anything about itself, but I don't understand why you would oppose efforts to at least assist in that goal.

What about getting Mark Barnes onto one of the ask the CEO features/threads for MYBB?

Heard some bits of an interview with him on the radio - he was quite hostile. Dont expect much from him.

Sigh... I also remember the good old days... about 6 years ago when I used to use them for parcel delivery, and i actually received the parcels within 5 business days.

This is the reason why Postnets are on every corner these days.
People are willing to pay more to get their goods actually delivered.

SAPO should be closed down.
SAA should be closed down.
ESKOM should be privatized and split so that there are competition.
