The Government should not only rectify this situation immediately, they should redress the situation as well!

I mean that those who profited from the monopoly should be stripped of those profits and that money should be plowed back into telecommunications expansion and empowerment for the people of South Africa.

That is the only fair and just way to show that this ANC government is committed to the empowerment of its people, instead of a corrupt and useless monolith.

I fear however, that it is too late. The ANC has already become as bad, if not worse, than the excesses of the old apartheid government. They have practiced de facto economic apartheid upon their own people and created a new division of class. For that they should be held accountable. And by that I mean they should be stripped of the right to rule.

It is good that this kind of knowledge and reflection is now becoming more publicly known. The sector needs this consumer transparency if any kind of pressure should ever build up to finally make government complacency and misplaced loyalties one day a thing of the past.

(Wow. I'm being slightly optimistic for a change. Must be the weather.) :)
