No one is calling for stuff he owned or donated to be erased. His good legacy is appreciated, but there is no need to glorify such a horrible person by having statues in his honour.
You will notice the dailymaverick echo'd those sentiments

Which particular DM article? There have been multiple articles on this subject.

Don't you think it is hugely hypocritical to accept money or land from a person who you hate/dislike intensely? Like this clown

Joshua Nott? Is he as much of a tool as he comes across?

Strikes me as a brown-noser hoping for a cushy patronage position.

He studies law and his parents come from an ANC background which is why he is also an ANC member. He does love his politics and he can be a bit impossible to talk to when arguing about such things. But when not going on about politics he is a decent oke although he does sometimes rub people the wrong way.

Don't go around ruining people's preconceived notions that he must be a BA student (Which for stupid people is an insult) and must be a tool

Perhaps we don't need to glorify anyone, just remember them.

Depends if he is LLB or BA law....

Nothing wrong with a BA but don't try argue with someone who is still studying something like that.... they have all the answers.

He did B.SocSc as his undergrad and is now doing LLB.

I do agree with the BA generalisation though, many of the people involved in these types of ideological arguments/movements are typically studying a BA. They tend to make these really fantastical arguments or wishes but they simply have no grounding in reality, they don't see past their politics and philosophy textbook to notice that other disciplines are more knowledgeable about the realities of the world.

Perhaps it is... After all we learn from history. A lot of the tributes to Rhodes were donated by members of the public, what right do we have to tear them down

So wait....people like Sadam Husain, Adolf Hitler, etc etc should also not have their statues torn down and buildings renamed which were named after them right?

Very different people. But people like Hitler are still being discussed, so their legacy lives on for different reasons.

I'm not in favor of renaming things, it smacks of revisionist history
