Thoughts on someone like Shaka, especially in light of all the honorifics he's getting?

It's fine for a black man to kill black people because that's obviously not racist, and he was the chief.
The white guy was racist, and not the chief.

Cut from the same cloth. Both of them, like many other men in history had imperialistic asperations

Yeah, agreed. I agree with the removal of Rhodes' statue, and would also like the Shaka honorifics removed. Would you agree?

If those that admire him want to see his monument, then they can do it on private land.
Honestly - what do you think is more detrimental to the country right now: a.) an statue, or b.) corrupt leaders. Anybody who claims to give a **** about this country & is more concerned about a statue, in light of all the other more pressing issues - is seriously misguided.

I would not. As descendant of people butchered by him in war, he was a particular tribe's King after all and I'm not bothered about it. Had it been in Mangaung or somewhere where I lived, I would have problems with it

Since when is UCT a Private University? Was the land not given to UCT?

The upper Campus is built on part of the Rhodes Estate, along with Kirstenbosch Gardens and Groote Schuur the old presidential residence done below UCT.
The Statue on campus was to commemorate his gift of the land for the establishment of the University.

Rhodes' final will[23] left a large area of land on the slopes of Table Mountain to the South African nation. Part of this estate became the upper campus of the University of Cape Town, another part became the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden,
..............
From 1910 to 1984 Rhodes' house in Cape Town, Groote Schuur, was the official Cape residence of the Prime Ministers of South Africa and continued as a presidential residence of P. W. Botha and F. W. De Klerk.

Calling him a king is a bit of a stretch.

Are we not able to focus on many issues at once? Like I said, I was not bothered until I read up on him and just voiced my opinion. My life goes on to focus on other things

I know that you're not everyone, but shouldn't everyone be doing that? Focussing on other things, that is?

His statue and name are all over an international airport. You should have problems with it.
