The utter absurdity of what you can and cannot buy in shops

I lost 10kg over the last 3 months, was planning to go buy new clothes this past weekend.
None of my belts have hoops left and my pants all fall off... luckily I have gym/running shorts - but that's all I wear now.

May get locked up by police for looking like I'm jogging.
Wait... if I need to buy medication at the clicks 3km away and my car battery is dead - does that mean I can jog to the shop or is there a speed limit to determine whether I may or not

A very interesting point. When are you jogging or just in a hurry?
Just another example of the stupidity that is reigning at the moment.

I have a few lying around. Mostly old ones, but have 3 new ones sealed in boxes.

OK, maybe a bit excessive, but my friends love it, I can always help.
I call bullshit

Let's see the pics then of all your spares in sealed boxes. So when your printer goes out of date you chuck the perfectly sealed spares as well?

So you will buy say 3 printers for R2500 each just to have spares worth of R5000 in case you need them during the month and you claim you do this with everything.

3 New routers in boxes ? I have an RB3011 Tik they go for R2k a pop to be able to push 100mbps. So lets say you have ADSL and you got a cheap router for R600, you are trying to convince us that you have 2 Spare ones sealed lying there for R1200.

So just those 2 items you already lost R6200.

I work from home and have no spares for any computer equipment. Guess what 7 years and no issue.

Either you are high as fck or you lost your mind.

This hot/prepared meal ban is also monumentally retarded really... if a shop like Spar is open, why does their hot foods section have to be closed. Many people don't have the ability to prepare food at home or can't cook or whatever... now they are left high and dry on this front.

And just for shytes and giggles since I'm a hipster vaper type, I just placed an order for pods on a well known stores website to be collected, and less than an hour later the order was ready for collection and I went and fetched them. I know I'd never be able to buy them in the same stores physical presence, but I strolled into the store and collected my parcel and left.

Our local PnP's hot food is closed ----- EXCEPT for the food the Police want! Was in there twice today. In the morning they were "selling" meals to the cops. This afternoon after the bread came out of the ovens, they were "selling" lunches to the cops.

Maybe they a "contract" to supply the cops with meals? Why can't they keep that going for the public?

Our local spar still has its hot food section open. I guess its down to each shop and not a nationwide spar policy.

That pisses on my battery just a bit.

Granted, I've only left my house once so far this lockdown.... and I don't intend going out more than once a week until its over (and even then, if I can avoid that one a week trip I will)

I have no intention of going back this week for anything. The manager has undertaken to send us an SMS if any flour is delivered though. (Friend of the wife). And will try hard not to go there next week Wednesday.

Are you nuts, I said that I have three sealed modems in boxes ?

One is an new sealed Asus AC-1700 router that is a backup for my fibre router, I need that because I have a lightning problem here where routers regularly get knocked out by lightning.

And then I have two sealed Huawei B315 routers in sealed boxes, that Telkom keep insisting that I take even though I don't want them.

I also have a Huawei router that Vox gave me, but I don't use it because it is crap.

I may even have a few more, but some of those are damaged.

I never said anything about printers in sealed boxes.

Are your local shops not doing an ordering system...

All of the local shops around us are organising their own individual ordering and delivery systems....
So can email my local spar a shopping list, they will pick it from the floor and deliver it later that day or the next with a card machine to pay for it.

Local PnP only has resources for their existing customers. But will put an order together for you to collect. Will take a photo of the poster next time I go.

on top of the fibre routers i received i also have 3 lte routers aswell from all the different fixed lte deals i've gone through, which can also serve as fibre routers.

i guess some people are just more proactive than others.

Thats fair, and ours are doing the same...

Helps to cultivate a relationship with the store management over time :)...

We've helped our local Super Spar test their ordering system and provided feedback on whats worked and what needs help... the store manager has been immensely grateful for the help. I wouldn't be surprised to see many shops keep such a system in place after the lockdown.

I must have missed where magazines became basic essentials.

Last week HUISGENOOT’s editorial team created and finalized an issue from home for the first time in its history of more than a century. It was also the first time in HUISGENOOT’s history that the magazine only appeared online.

Just like the rest of the country had to follow the national lockdown guidelines, HUISGENOOT also had to comply with the president’s order to stop the circulation of magazines during the lockdown period in an effort to help curb the spread of the coronavirus.

But the editorial team has received the good news that, from this week, HUISGENOOT is allowed to be distributed and sold in stores again.

“After the government had announced earlier that magazines should not be sold during the lockdown period, the ban was lifted on day four and HUISGENOOT is allowed back on shelf,” says editor Yvonne Beyers. “Our magazine will now again be distributed and sold nationwide.”

Newspaper printed copies must be under pressure, as in Australia:

I had no idea, I have been buying my lunch from PnP since the lockdown started, their bakery is also fully operational.
