But they are selling stuff to the general public not necessarily essential companies.

I also think they are bending the rules and will be stopped soon
We have obtained an Essential Services Certificate from Government giving us the ability to operate during lockdown.

We are ONLY allowed to provide Consumables/Hardware to an Essential Service or Essential End User. Orders placed for delivery during lockdown will be subject to the following terms:

  • You will need to supply your Essential Service Certificate issued by government to your company and a letter stating what the items are for and why they are essential to the operation of your business. (ie. A doctor needing a laptop or LTE modem as part of their job would be approved. A member of the general public sitting at home needing a high frequency gaming monitor would not be approved.) Each order will be screened and vetted for approval.
  • Your order being delivered during lockdown is subject to stock availability. This will be confirmed with you first before payment is made as not all our suppliers are operating at this time.
  • Rebel Tech will not be held responsible for any loss of stock due to the Police/Army confiscating items from our courier that are not recognised as essential service related. If you place an order and submit fraudulent documents, we are not responsible for any loss of stock before the order gets to you.
  • Any orders placed that are not Essential Service related will be fulfilled after the lockdown has been lifted.
  • Our courier will ONLY be collecting from us on Tuesdays and Thursdays to minimize chances of exposure.
  • Orders have to be placed and all required documents sent to us at least 48 working hours before a courier collection day in order to make it in time for dispatch.
  • There will be NO collections, warranty returns or repairs allowed during the lockdown period.
  • If you require a laptop for work, please email us at sales@rebeltech.co.za and we will try our best to help you find stock of a laptop which meets your requirements.
Rebel Tech has always prided itself on integrity and honesty. The above terms are completely within the scope of the regulations set out by government during the COVID-19 lockdown and we are not willing to bend the rules for our own gain in this time of need. Thank you for your understanding. Please mail through all queries to sales@rebeltech.co.za and we will try our best to assist.

So it is getting cold now and will have to make trousers out of a duvet cover and a jacket out of a blanket and a pillow.

Exactly, people are working from home, and stuff breaks.

Is this lockdown to control the virus or to punish us ? Sometimes I wonder.
Yip, your vacuum cleaner breaks, your broom breaks, your car battery dies (mine did), you need to upgrade your network gear because of more people working from home...

But noooo.... can't buy shít. At least allow online orders of non-essential items.

IT providers are allowed to provide goods and services to essential industries/companies.

I run a virtual business; hence I didn’t apply to be CIPC cleared, and as I understand I am not required to do so unless I need to physically engage with other essential service providers.

You will be surprised how many cost-saving mechanisms have been activated prior to and during the lockdown. I have 3 income streams, 1) SLAs (and retainers) and 2) commissions and 3) sales (on which I also take commission, pending). I am mostly subcontracted, and talks have been had to pause commitments, and this isn’t something worth challenging without harming relationships (and bridges). Luckily, I am sustained by commissions (2), but now I am hearing that some commission channels may also come under review pending on the entity (and agreement) and this doesn’t bode well. The expectancy to continue in providing level 1 support without knowing what is going to happen in regard to payments create uncertainty. I guess that month-to-month commissions in this regard may be renegotiated into quarterly payments, but I am still waiting on those discussions to happen.

As I see things, businesses are doing their best to ensure that their employees will be paid or at least remedy it as best as possible, pay the ‘bills’, and then review their other operational and tertiary costs. I also know people who will have good cases in regard to their employment being at risk or who have already received their notices.

Businesses are badly impacted by, “what you can and cannot buy”.

Where can I get gas? One of my 19kg cylinders needs a swap out. Drove past Gas Boys earlier, locked up, sent them a mail as maybe they are closed except for deliveries, no reply to that.

To punish us for stealing over a Trillion Rand
To punish us for state capture
To punish us for destroying all the SOE's
To punish us for all the load shedding
To punish us for paying our taxes and then spending it on fine brandy and luxury cars
To punish us for allowing Soweto to not pay their electricity bills
To punish us for allowing mayors and municipality councillors pillaging and looting the budget.
To punish us because we bought these fancy billion rand trains which could not even fit onto our railway tracks

Yes we have been so, so very naughty.

Was just at our local Checkers. Light bulbs, extension cords, even tap washers (but not the size I need) was available. Only shelf taped off was gardening tools and seeds.

I see you can buy an e-book about chocolate on Takealot for R200, some bulk slabs for over R200. No basics like a bar one, easter eggs or anything else.
Unless you are daft and dull as fsk, I can't see how anyone in their right mind will buy from them?

Was at the PnP in Canal Walk today, very good in terms of cleanliness - sanitiser when you walk in, guy walking around in the store asking if he can spray my trolley while shopping, large perspex screen in front of cashier, and sanitiser when you leaver.

Well stocked overall, only thing that was a bit annoying was not being able to buy a bread tin - but you can buy a potjie pot. No kitchen goods at all, but you can buy a braai tongs. No kids toys but I could buy dog toys.
