A family was killed in their home on a private golf estate in Stellenbosch on Tuesday morning, Western Cape police said.

It is believed the father, 55, mother, 54, and 22-year-old son were attacked in their home in the De Zalze Golf Estate in the early hours of the morning, Lt-Col Andre Traut said.

Two siblings, aged 16 and 20, were injured and admitted to a nearby hospital.

He refused to disclose how the family was killed, or a possible motive.

"We are not speculating at this stage. The forensic guys are still on the scene," he said.

No arrests had been made.

In De Zalze... though it is an upmarket security estate and not immune to crime such as burglaries, this seems target specific.

A 20 years old son survived. The youngest one. And his sister (16y old) also made it thru the ordeal. According to Eyewitness News, all victims were apparently bludgeoned to death with an axe. The 2 in the hospital are in very bad shape.
Does not look like a family murder. My money is on a hit or robbery. It is not a racist attack because the victims are white.

so why didn't they just state it was a burglary/robbery if 2 people survived?

It looks like a hit also, but lets wait to see what the reason was.

Take out father the dominant figure that poses a threat out is normal for a burglary , but the whole family looks more like a hit or message.

Upmarket children are not excluded from a drug deal that went bad either?
