How does Xbox Live work.
Will it work with our current wonderful telecommunications operator?

It works via a LAN cable. So if you've got ADSL or some other broadband-ish type link, it should work.

. . . Or with the Wifi adaptor accessory if you have an access point.

I'm interested to find out what the minimum bandwidth requirement is. That would be a cood starting point for ICASAs definition of "Broadband".

well, you need a LIVE subscription which requires a credit card account, the subs are sold at Animeworx and they will receive the first Xbox 360's on December 14th with around 12 launch titles... :D

@ useless,

What's Animeworx selling the unit's for ?

inquired at the shop over the weekend and they said around R3600-R3800 for the HDD version of the Xbox 360 which comes with one wireless controller. Games to cost between R400-R500 a pop which does put it in the same league as current console titles.

what do you do about the warranty? will you be around within a year if the Xbox has issues? And are you getting the PAL or NTSC versions?

I thing it looks really cool, and the power is awesome. Although I read a really good article on IGN by one of the Nintendo guys, and I must say, the Revolution definitely peeks my interest a bit more than the XBox.

Graphics wise the new demo's look unbelievable, but between the 3 contenders you're basically comparing (This is all my opinion btw, from what I've read):
PS3 = Geforce 7800 GTX Sli
XBox = X1800XT Crossfire
Revolution (I'm guessing) X1800XT

It's all pretty good. The question is always, what about the games?

i think its the games which will decide what makes or breaks the next-gen consoles... PS3 has issues with their unfriendly SDK as per many developers reports, the Xbox 360 SDK seems more robust as its a gradual upgrade from their predecessor and John Carmack has placed his bets with it as well.

Nintendo has something up its sleeve since they have a robust gaming library upon which to build their Revolution, but their marketing strategies are their weakest.

As per any new console release the starting titles are a bit so so... 6 months down the line is when the top notch games will be coming out... :p
