Congrats.

rpm, can we avoid these sorts of spam competitions in the future? Creates a ton of new threads for you guys, but adds little to no value to us, the forumites. I mean the winning thread had a whole 6 replies and the majority were outright ignored. Comps should have some benefit to us, not just to mybb...

I agree with DJ.while it was a fun competition there were too many celeb and social based threads.
Maybe if we had confined it to IT and Tech it would have been far more challenging and interesting.

Nevertherless congrats to the winners.

Nope. I don't need a second Galaxy tab. I'm merely voicing my concern to avoid a trend that sees competitions instituted for content that adds no value to the forum as a whole. That's how you lose faith with your audience and subsequently lose members...

So, if they are the winners now, does that make me a winner at a later stage then?

Agreed. Also people make threads and don't comment in other people's threads because they want their threads to win.

Yeah, those would be the tunnel-vision type of members.

And I'm of the meaning that the 'non-tech' type of posts do indeed have their place. Someone might Google such a subject and also have an interest in the main subject of this site, which they previously didn't know existed (site). And Viola, potential new member. It's not like this competition is a permanent thing.

I have no issue with non-tech threads. I'm hardly a tech-orientated person myself. My issue is with the sponsoring of spam threads that serve very little purpose at the end of the day. Then and now comp threads had practically zero uptake, which proves it only served to add to the thread count and nothing to the members themselves for the most part...

I disagree to an extent. Although it created a lot of "spam", many of the threads were very interesting.
