  • Expensive tertiary education resulting in a smaller proportion of the population being able to receive tertiary education.

Pretty sure SA’s tertiary education is fairly priced compared to similarly-ranked institutions overseas. Problem is that the population consists of broke-assed fools.

Anyways, there’s also NSFAS for the broke. So problem will be that secondary schooling doesn’t produce enough people who are eligible to enter required fields.

Think the most important post/position for 2023 is Eskom CEO! That guy must have balls.

Aren’t the universities usually full every year? If so then it isn’t fees that are the problem.

The majority of those IT jobs don’t really require any university degree. You can learn some useful things there, but it isn’t mandatory for most jobs in the field. Regardless these people are getting hired by companies outside South Africa.

The people I know in Design, Media & Arts all get treated like garbage. They get treated badly in many other countries too, but the pay is higher.
