Remember when Rhodesia was known as Africa's breadbasket.
White farmers provided. Nowadays most Zim farms look as expected. With many SA farms close behind.
But but the Breetish.

Droughts, and other "acts of nature" cannot be avoided, but good planning can reduce the impact to a certain degree - what kind of planning do you think those Zimbobweans did?

They planned by getting rid of the farmers.

Did they get land? Yes
Did they get dignity? Yes
Are they able to farm? No.
Are they producing crops? No.
Are they suffering the consequences? Yes.

Just like South Africans wil be because gimme, gimme, gimme for free, free, free.

WHY DO LOCALS NOT SEE THE WRITING ON THE WALL???

Innocent victims everywhere :crying:

I thought you out of all people would give more credit to Zimbabweans. Since when can they not farm? Are they hardworkers in South Africa but turn into lazy locals back home?

Hard work isn't all they need. Money comes in handy and even more than that some training.

What peeves me is exactly the same thing is happening here. Do you think with EWC any land owner is going to teach the new land occupier skills?

If government really gave a toss they would incentivize local farmers to pass their knowledge on before land changes hands. Nobody wants to see their homes turn to dust.

I don't know any farmers  but they must be feeling pretty marginalized right now. Especially because they're being welcomed in - where it's it? Australia? New Zealand?

Apart from that, all the good guys are in ZA

It's like everyone on this thread is intentionally ignoring the fact that there is a severe drought in Zimbabwe. Saying stupid things like "They should grow their own vegetables" and "they are just lazy" is just idiotic and lacks any compassion whatsoever. Droughts like this will become more widespread with climate change whatever Pegasus thinks.

The drought issue is only used to hide the issues of the past and not to take blame for their situation. Droughts come and goes. We have a serious drought in South Africa currently, but although struggling, we are surviving for now. The real issue here is them estranging white farmers and no longer able to provide for themselves, droughts or not.

They deserve this and there are no bad feelings from my side. I do not pity them, as this is what they wanted. If the same happens here in SA, I will not pity any of the 60m+ people here dying too.

There have been quite a number of droughts and starvation's in this part of the World LONG before any white person ever got anywhere near the place ......
It goes to the style and type of agriculture practiced = SUBSISTENCE

Basically and unironically this is the Europeans's creation , african populations exploded with the introduction of farming , to the point where once you remove the euro the people starve BUT wait the good news is that the UN is now providing food to africa and also allowing a further increase in populations
