There is 'absolutely zero' in govt's kitty for bailouts, including at SAA - Mthembu

Why does the gov not talk about printing more money - something lots of other countries are actually doing?
Those "lots if other countries" have something we don't have. One day when we have control over who flies over another sovereign country, then we can start printing.

It would not work anywhere.... It might work for a few months at most before everyone would stop paying.

A heavy indictment. That's it: the human species is not worth continuing, everyone may as well not bother; or just be like animals.

That sounds very complex.

How about this: you have absolute freedom of movement between all nation states. That broadly gives you a very wide choice of how much tax you would be happy to pay.
Were this the case, I would pack my bags right now and move to Mauritius with its 10% income tax.

Would solve the problem of taxation once and for all. However it would eliminate the welfare state completely because the poor will flood the countries with high taxes and welfare, whilst the rich would flee to countries that have low taxes.

Personally I am against the establishment of any form of government, however, should one "have to" have a government (as seems 'popular' the past few millennia), then people might wish to keep in mind...

Taxation is implemented through threat of violence. Threats of violence can never be justified in any civilised society and therefore same ought to be removed.

Whatever mental gymnastics one finds to justify ‘taxation’ and to willingly accept it upon oneself and one's neighbour, as it stands, still equates to one nothing more than being a head of cattle on a tax farm. Choices, choices.

If you think the fact that humans would take advantage of a system to their own benefit is a heavy indictment on the species you have a very very low bar for those things.

Not even a few cents and Rands fallen behind the sofa?

Maybe they'll try to borrow money somewhere as usual in order to make payroll... or robbing Peter to pay Paul...

SAA: "Well there's good news and bad news.

The bad news is we don't have the money to pay everyone this month.

The good news is you're all getting an increase."

LOL Yeah the unions think they are so smart in having negotiated this deal, but the reality is the only they have been promised is that SAA will pay the workers IF they are able to find the money.

SAA can continue to retrench managers, CCMA finds

A retrenchment process at managerial level at South African Airways (SAA) is set to continue on December 3 this year, Derek Mans, the union Solidarity's representative at the state-owned airline told Fin24 on Monday afternoon.

This was after various unions, including Solidarity, attended a consultation at the CCMA during the day in this regard. SAA recently announced a restructuring process which could put about 944 jobs at risk.

Workers have the right to strike, but not when they work at national key points. This is in the constitution too.

Most of the SABC places of work are national key points.
All the large airports are national key points.
Many Eskom power stations are key points.
Denel is a national key point.
ETc... Etc..

So many of the strikes we see at SoEs are entirely unconstitutional. The recent SAA airport strikes should by rights have attracted the attention of the SADF and have seen most of the workers there jailed in the interest of national security. But the ANC is afraid of it's own allies.

And so they keep on making a mockery of the law.

Going to be ironic if they retrench the good, honest, hardworking managers and keep the lazy, incompetent and corrupt ones...

Irony would entail a result that is the opposite of what one would expect ... I fully expect the retrenchments to focus on the honest, hardworking ones and keep the thieves where they are, no irony at all.

We don't have anything to support the currency with.
Nonsense! we have Moody's saying we're investment grade and we have 'Thuma Mina' (which brings unicorns and rainbows just like the African Renaissance did) ... oh and we have land, so much land!

Sometimes I wonder why government doesn't just print out a shitload of cash and hand it out to the poor blacks. Immediate transformation and transfer of wealth and no more need for BEE and AA. Yeah the currency is going to depreciate and screw over everyone else but that's where we are heading anyway, albeit at a slower pace.

While they're at it they can print all they need for NHI too.
