Eskom has refuted claims that this coming Friday will see power outages.

This comes after Mining and Energy Advisory’s Ted Blom stated the power utility is running out of coal.

Speaking to Ray White on The Midday Report, Blom reiterated that the coal situation is currently dire.

Eskom normally keeps about 10 million tons of coal and that now has been run down and has been exacerbated by the shortfall from the Tegeta Group, which in a normal case would supply about 9 million tons into the Eskom pantry.

And by my estimations, we can see the lights go out by Friday. Eskom has their own view, but the numbers don't add up. The bottom line is that they have been running the diesel turbines for the best part of the last three months.

The report sounds implausible, but that's what happened last time, and Eskom’s credibility isn't very high.

Glad I bought a Generator, but it's also the surge hits on your electronics with all the on and off switching.
