These 20 African countries are all set to get Starlink before South Africa

What would happen if you purchased the equipment elsewhere and used it here? Would it function even if not regulatory compliant?

We dont want these colonial (even if he's SAn) companies providing these services and thereby preventing our own SA-based satellite operator from competing. /s

Do we have any local company with internet providing satellites in orbit?

If the satellites don't run across RSA in a track then it's highly doubtful it will work.

"With SpaceX founder Elon Musk born in the country, some expected he might have some predisposition to bring the service to the country as soon as possible."
