It makes more sense to just remove the hard drive and trash the old PVR, and try to get an Explora on a sale at Makro or Game etc.

I don't think those hdd are worth it. Mine in the explora 2a got problems. Have to format it often.

Decent idea, pity, they only giving their clients a pittance, tho, but then it is DSTV, so not surprising.

I know the PVRs pre-explora era had decent 500GB drives in them. I have a few that are still going strong.

Hardware? We just steam these days. No need for old crappy hard ware to carry around.

Or you can skip driving across the city and standing in the queue at DSTV and take out the HDD in the old decoder, reformat it and go buy a container for it. And save about R700 that way (new HDD about R1000 and container about R300).
