These are the most dangerous COVID-19 areas in South Africa

New research by Media Hack revealed that the Garden Route, Buffalo City, Nelson Mandela Bay, and Sarah Baartman districts had the highest number of cases per 100,000 people over the past few days.

Media Hack has been tracking COVID-19 statistics in South Africa since the pandemic hit local shores and produces an excellent coronavirus dashboard with the latest data.

Its latest analysis shows that South Africa’s daily positive coronavirus cases peaked last week at 18,031.

How about doing this for active cases instead of total infections? Or also add "Areas where you're most likely to recover from COVID".

I agree, and the numbers changed a lot over the last week... Covid-the-2nd made the big TREK north with the return of those on holiday.

It s strange that a country like Zambia that never had a lock down have a total of 557 deaths, but a corrupt country like south afrika have 37000 deaths with lock down continuing. WHO said millions will die in Zambia because they have no lock down. They are still waiting for millions to die. South Africa want to give vaccines to people that came from another country that was not tested by our own scientists. Thank you but no thank you.

Barring the tin-foil hat expedition that you went on there.

I'd prefer getting a vaccine not developed by a 30%-er..

Graph is fine and all, but kind of useless without knowing which parts of the Garden Route for example the
Township in Knysna or he suburbs in George ...

That's a bold statement...

The reason the garden route is on top is probably because the people living there are getting tested and there's less falling through the cracks compared to much bigger areas.

Also, during the holiday season, people flock down there and the population density spikes. How many of the positive cases were residents and how many were holiday makers?

I have also wondered - if you are part of the statistics by being tested positive in the Garden Route, but then recover at home back in P-Town, does that get added back as a Garden Route recovery or a Gauteng recovery? This could skew the picture a bit, but I am sure they have a way of handling it.

But the graphic in the article says CUMULATIVE cases, not past few days

The SACMC disagrees with this article

Edit: my bad, above is hospital admissions

Towns along the Garden Route were totally dead when we went down that way. Nothing happening.

You literally have no clue. Vaccines are passed as safe in the country. They will have to do tests.

Stick to what you know, which isn't medicine.
