A business owner in Fawcus street where the photos were taken was still without power today. Last year he lost a lot of equipment due to a power surge caused by cable theft. Hope that the camera footage leads to arrest of these criminals.

Was that installation even legal before it was stripped, I think not!

Same shyt in Durban , neutral cable in the substation stolen 4 times 380 blows through your place .
We threatened the municipality if they did not secure the substation we would do it , then only did they alarm the substation and fit pepper spray linked to the alarm .
I have a CCTV camera focused on the substation now as well, may be get lucky one day with some of the fekkers in side .

Joburg City Power should do the same. That Substation in Jeppe seems to be a favorite target.

Like making drug illegal worked!!

So you're expecting ppl to come up to in the road and ask if you want to buy some copper while they open their jacket and show you some copper piping and cables?

There are a limited number of scrap dealers, it would be considerably easier to police the sale of copper for scrap than it is to police the drug trade.

I only see some loose cabling, a missing door and a dead tree. No massive damage. With cable theft the real damage can't be seen after the theft.
