SARS closes 18 branches over a wage strike

The South Africa Revenue Service (SARS) has announced that 18 of its tax branches would not be in operation on Tuesday as its staff embark on a wage strike.

In a statement, SARS said: "(We) apologise for any inconvenience caused, but due to Industrial Action taking place across SARS, we are experiencing delays in servicing our taxpayers."

Stop ALL grants and use that money for all these SOE salary hikes...

Then sit back and watch the snake eats its tail.

If it is unprotected, fire their asses.
If protected, hold out till they accept 3-4%.
Conceding to more is criminal!

Do like Eskom, destroy, loot, intimidate. Nothing else works.

Also when you consider the SARS 1.3% offer remember the parliamentarians got 3% backdated to 1/3/2021.

Also don't forget that municipal workers got 5.9%.

Another thing, the president had more money stuffed in his sofa than what SARS is prepared to set aside for increases.

Would be interesting to know if SARS's auditors and investigators are also involved in the strike.

It's a pathetic increase.

At some point however people need to realise the money is gone, thanks largely to corruption and incompetence, and that has consequences for public sector salaries.
