Not sure how many of you have noticed the recent TV/Screen prices.... My 1st thought went to the global chip shortage, but was soon after followed by Black Friday is coming soon so inflate now and put them on "Special" then... 2 examples below of a TV and a screen I purchased from Takealot and the prices now for those EXACT SAME models.

*If I recall correctly the screen was on special at the time down from ~R2000.
Currently on Takealot: ~150% INCREASE IN PRICE FROM 1 YEAR AGO (Non special price)

Currently on Takealot: ~42.5% INCREASE IN PRICE FROM 3 YEAR AGO... This TV should be at end of life...

I highly doubt the chips required in these products became more expensive, it's just that the manufacturers have to wait a long time before they can get their hands on some... (Correct me if I'm wrong) So somewhere someone is making boats full of cash using the shortage as an excuse, and we as consumers are the ones suffering as usual... Same thing with the automotive industry although that at least helps people selling 2nd hand cars... We should have bought screens instead of Bitcoin it seems =/ (Not that I own any Bitcoins)...
I'm no investigative journalist but I think this may be worth looking into a bit more...
