Government already have access to everything related to FB, Whatsapp and Instagram. They even have a dedicated web-based platform where they can log in, upload a court order and they get whatever they want within seconds. This will apply to anything - a complaining recipient or even government snooping around in your accounts.
So, as we often joke around the office, we know Whatsapp is encrypted but they are listening nicely. We talk about things on the official work group chats and things we talk about get into our Google search feeds.

Telegram has its share of security issues too.

For now (and I say this with caution), if you really want to talk to someone in private, you should use PGP encryption. This is safe, until quantum computing can factorize the extremely large numbers the RSA algorithm relies on.

I keep hearing that story, but have NEVER experienced it.

We discussed stuff to do with datacentre power supply problems. Internet Solutions sucks, and they deny things.

What ads are we being served in the "Promotions" tabs of our GMail accounts? Ads and such from vendors of power distribution systems.
