Swazi ur line is capable of 4mbps speeds now but ur ISP dont have support for 4mbps yet. From ur speedtest it looks like u r downloading at the usual 1mbps line. Give the ISPs sometime to upgrade. Everyone else getting the upgrade seem to have the same prob.

Below is the data used to calculate your download speed:

Download time: 1.0526 seconds
Size of file: 500 KiloBytes
Estimated line speed: 3800.04 (kilobits/second)
Estimated line speed: 475 (kiloBytes/second)

*And then i wokeup ;)

*EDIT: how much does it cost to downgrade a line? eg: tryout 1mbit for a month?

I think it's in the region of R400... Can't remember now and can't find it on their website.

Only the uncapped solutions by IS have speed limitations. Just because you sync at a certain speed doesnt mean that you are going to get it, we need telkom to give us the speed to go with the sync now.

Telkom accounts also are speed limited. Previously all lines synced at a higher speed than the line was supposed to be (ie 384 synced at 512) but you could only download at the speed you were paying for. When my line was upgraded from 512 to 1024 my sync speed went up but my download speed stayed at 512 rate, but as soon as i disconnected and then reconnected the pppoe session i got 1meg speed.

I have disconnected/reconnected. Down sync is 4096K, but I can't get faster than 115KB/sec downloads. I'm using flashget with 20 connections. I've tried a Verizon and a SAIX account with the same result - there must be some other limiting going on here.

I believe its called a calendar.

Sync speed is only what your line will get to the exchange.

Well Gambit, I've emailed my IS and SAIX ISP's about this to see where the limit will sit and if there is one what the plan is.

Unless otherwise specified the line speed for any ISP is the one set by Telkom. If you signed up for a line that was limited by your ISP then you're not going to see any difference when September comes around regardless of what your sync speed says.

Remember, sync speed is always going to be equal to or greater than your actual line speed.

EDIT - IMO this thread title is incorrect - they havent upgraded anyone to 4Mbit yet - telkom has merely adjusted the sync speed.
