People insisting on using express queues with lots of shopping, despite clear signage. Today was the second time in a month that I addressed someone who ignored the sign and the teller's request to use the normal queues.
+1
I questioned this lack of enforcement up with PnP management. At the nearby PnP the managers sit in a raised box directly above the so called EXPRESS cashier.
Plus
Supermarkets allowing all sorts of other transactions ... paying bills, buying electricity... at the EXPRESS cashier. And not having designated cashiers who only process payments of stuff bought in the supermarket.
I read somewhere that a study shows you are better odds of getting out sooner if you queue behind one person with a full trolley than a bunch of people with baskets as the payments slow the queue down. And the more transactions, the more the chance of someone ahead of you struggling with their electricity meter number, tv license payment, airtime purchase, sending cash to Jimmy in PE, drawing R20, paying a traffic fine, paying DSTV, updating his/her online dating profile and god knows what else you can do at the till.
