Had loadshedding yesterday until 17:00. Power came on and went off 10 mins later. Hasn't been back on since.

Ward Counsellors blaming an explosion and aging infrastructure.

I have solar panels and a battery, but it doesn't last through the night. At this stage I'm wondering whether I should just fork out another R26k for a second battery.

Why not just manage your draw at night to make it last?

Have a 5,5kw battery which shuts down at 20% (so around 4,400 useable watts) - idle draw at night is between 330 - 400 watts (should last 11-12 hours), but damn brah, need to have some coffee and heat food too. :)

If I don't have those small conveniences, then I might as well have gone without the inverter :)

And unfortunately with winter and a tree my panels only start producing around 10:30. (Summer production starts at 7:00)

When you have to sign and initial so many documents, by the end of it all you basically forget how your initials even look. Like you can't write an N properly.

Having forked out R5k to up my power game just so I can play stage 6 as well. When I was a kid the word stage was fun, Mario Bros, Rockman, so many games with wonderful stages. Now a stages suck.

Big expenses always hitting at the same time. I'd appreciate it if it were spread across the year, but it seems like it's normally chilled for ten months and balls-to-the-wall for the remaining two months. And it's always unexpected things too, so budgeting is hard.

This year has been filled with them, January R7k for new Bridgestones on my car, February R3k for brakes on my car + R3k on tyres for my wife's car. March R8k for additional work on our pool install + R13k for CPU and HDD upgrade. April it was plane tickets for mother-in-law + new battery for the inverter. May was car service month, R4k on the wife's car, R10k on mine (cambelt services). Now it is a bigger battery box and a 2nd battery.

At least I keep enough money on the side for cheap boxes of 5L red wine.... Priorities.

Generator noise. People at homes with a generator should die a painful death.
The only relief I get is when my neighbour runs out of petrol - otherwise his crude Ryobi literally rattles my kitchen door off it's hinges
