Not something I witness often, but the converse is highly irritating to me: was at a braai a few weeks ago and the second everyone had a plate of food, the dude’s wife started scuttling the meat away to the kitchen. Way to make your guests feel unwelcome…
You need new friends bro

Perhaps to clear up and make space? Or to remove the meat from possible flies?

Not to be nasty but a family member does this on Xmas day because they entertain friends on Boxing day so she's saving as much as possible. (Family on xmas)

Ouch that sucks, I'd call her out on that.

The vet is going to come put her down at home today, that way she's with family and friends. It's heart breaking.
I left the office yesterday after reading this. My heart was so sore for you. We got a daschund earlier this year. She's the new baby in the house. I look at her and think that in 10+ years i'll have to say goodbye... It's so fcking sad, my eyes tear up.

Yup our Piggy was the baby in the house 12 years ago :-(, actually she was pretty much the baby right up till the end :-(. Didn't matter if other dogs, cats came along mommy still treated her the same. We were even worried that when my son came into the world she'd be jealous, but instead she became his biggest defender.
Fraking hell I miss that dog.

Call centre IVR's that let you go down a string of options/branches to the tune of 3 or 4 minutes, but with no way to return 'up' a level so you have to drop the call and redial if you make a mistake.

Yes it's a government department so should have expected it, but still.

They have taken a leaf out of the BOFH manual... (and this episode have matured quite well).

Waking up to no power, yet according to our schedule we're not supposed to be off at the moment.

I don't want to strain the batteries too much since I don't know how long it's been off for, so I suppose I will need to whip out the candles again.
