Think I have broken my HD7950...

Ok so I have just installed my new CPU cooler. During the installation process I accidentally dropped a screw on my Powercolor HD7950. After installation of cooler I switched the PC on and nothing on the screen. I have taken the gpu out and put it back in. The fans on the gpu spin but otherwise it doesn't seem to work. I have plugged my HDMI cable into my motherboard for now. This is a very sad day :crying:

Anything else I can try or some software I can use to check if my card is still being picked up?

You sure the mobo didn't just switch to the integrated GFX?

I doubt a simple falling screw would break a gfx unless you're truly unlucky.

Device manager recognises that there is a card but doesn't pick up the card properly. Just says "Video controller (VGA compatible)"

Can't open the AMD catalyst application because it doesn't pick up the card. I think I have fscked this up....

Now my pc doesn't even boot. All I did was install a new cpu cooler. Hows this even possible?

How about a bios reset and letting it pick up the card again .

Take it out >> boot >> delete drivers >> put back >> reset bios >> Pray

Hmmm just a mishap that happen to me once . I forgot to take of the plastic covering the nice and shiny working surface of cooler . After even going so far as flashing my bios to cure the constant reboots I discovered it .

Can I reset bios without anything coming up? I'm starting to think I have messed up the mobo and not the gpu.. It's all so strange though. Everything was hundred percent before I did the cooler installation...

Did you ground yourself before handling the GPU? If you didn't neutralize the static charge you had on you, you might have zapped your gpu with an esd.
