The issue here is that there are a plethora of techniques that psychologists adopt, including combinations of them. Hypnotherapy has very limited scope and there is little evidence for it being effective outside of this limited scope. Making the call to adopt hypnotherapy from the outset is going about this arse about face. You've self diagnosed and predetermined a course of treatment.

Yeah, agreed. I can't see any psychologist worth his/her salt jumping to hypnotherapy straight off the bat. Any that do is an immediate red flag...
