South Africa.
I live in Edgemead (Cape Town), more exactly WimbledonWay. Using GPS
co-ordinates I measure from your Milnerton Tower to my house is just
over 3KMS. Is this suitable for a connection? I imagine it would be, but your zone locator doesn’t seem to think so!

Kind Regards

Richard

Good Day Richard,

Although you may be within range of the signal tower, the nature of radio frequencies may not permit a suitable connection on your premesis.

I would not advise that you take the product until coverage does become available at your location.

Would someone please explain this to me?? I thought that I would get away with being over 4KMS away, nevermind 3KMS. Im annoyed now! [:(!]

The Zone locator is very bad, lots of us are on even though it states no signal available

The only way to see is to have someone come and check with a modem and laptop if they can connect

The signal is also funny, lots of thing can affect it

The signal - as implied by its name ... Radio "WAVES" doesn't exactly provide blanket coverage of na area... you get hot and cold zones ...

Also, it may be that the tower you are looking at simply does not have an antenna (and nodeB) pointing in your general direction

I've actually found the zone locator to be quite accurate, The 6Km specified is a guideline, but factors to take into account, as regardTV said, are whether the tower has a nodeBfor your direction, as well as the terrain, the 2.5 GHz frequence can punch through a wall, although it will get weakened, but a hill is a solid mass, and the waves will not penetrate through it, so, if you're like on the other side of "the mauntain" hey, youre out of luck.

See if theres any testers in your area, or possibly borrow a mates modem, and see if it lights up at your location.

Its TOTALLY flat from my house to the tower in Milnerton. Im sure I would be able to even see it if I got on my roof with some binochs!

Yea... I posted a thread to see if someone is out there who can help me out. Hopefully someone will [:p]
