So how much is it?

As per the article:
For a nutritionally complete basket of food, the cost for a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 children and 1 elder), is R3,125.87, Pacsa said, showing a R2,382.82 difference between what people can afford, and what they need to get basic nutrition.

Maybe if folks stopped demanding double digit increases, inflation wouldn't be as high :whistling:

And I'm looking at service providers too. Most of mine have asked for between 10%-20% increases for this year, where exactly are the public supposed to get this money from when avg salary/wage increases are nowhere near that? Not to mention the poor pensioners who are living off interest etc.

I think the government should look after it's people and start investigating this R200 burial insurance everyone is force fed.

This is a rip off and a scam and can be obtained much cheaper.

That's easy:
the minimum food price basket increased to R1,942.42.

Yeah, the maths doesn't make sense, like this argument:
Pacsa sparked some controversy in July by recommending that the National Minimum Wage be set at R8,000 a month, so that households could live dignified lives.

Normally, if you cannot survive on one salary your wife would also get a job. But instead of trying to create more jobs we should just give everybody a huge salary.

Burial insurance? Clothing and footwear? Cultural obligations? Dafuq, sometimes I go for months without buying new clothes.

Also the answer is simple - stop breeding out of control and you'll be able to save more money. But an R8,000 minimum wage just to support your life choices, GFY.

Only food, transport, water/electricity, healthcare and hygiene items should be considered. Everything else is a choice and not a necessity...

Clothing accounts are the norm in SA, God forbid you are not sporting clothes on credit, you might be looked down upon, imagine something so terrible..

The poor uneducated masses have been raped and sold products which are more expensive than necessary for years because it's "linked" to a membership of some sorts.
