I recently took out a 10MB line with hellkom and turns out I caught 9MB/s once and this what I catch every other time IMG_7787.JPG

Pisses me off, phoned to complain and they said they going to refresh my line and all that bull.. didn't help at all..

You need to get hold of Telkom and ask them to sync your line.
This should sort out the prob..

How did you get more than 1Mbps upload on ADSL?

Could you give your line stats?

I am on a 8mb/s line but my ADSL line and data is with Afrihost. Only paying Telkom for the line (R189). Since day one I got between 6mb/s and 7.15mb/s (on a good day) and if it is anything slower I reboot my router. At some stage a reboot did not solve my problem and I logged a call with Afrihost at about 9pm and the next morning at about 9am they send out a technician, from open serve, (Afrihost logs the call with Telkom and the Telkom/open serve technician attends to the call) and fixed something (at the pole where line is connected furthest away from my router) and speed was back to normal.
Maybe try and log the call directly with Telkom and hopefully they can send out someone to sort the problem.

It's an anomaly, speedtests calculate speed based on time taken to transfer a piece of data which isn't 100% accurate.

I have also read somewhere (I think when my data was initially with Telkom it said so when I logged into my Telkom account) that priority is given to speedtest, does anyone know anything about this?

Pretty common knowledge yeah, most (if not all) ISPs prioritize speedtests.
