This is starting to get ridiculous.

At least you guys have a working adsl Telkom line when their it's loadshedding. Mine is dead dead so if I use batteries I can only power the laptop and tv. Internet would of helped a bit.

Have you tried the 12v battery solution? Only works if your modem's 12v.

Yip looks like when eskom goes so does Telkom can't even make a call with the landline. I remember when you could still use a phone when the power went out. Next thing I'm going to have to buy is a wireless router or buffer all the things I want to stream before load shedding

Blame Eskom for the lack of electricity but blame your metro for rubbish schedules!

/if you are not a direct customer

Agreed. Mine was absolute crap - Tshwane put me on the 16:00 - 18:30 slot for stage 1 every second day, and the same slot for stage 2. Since Eskom usually only wakes up at around 14:00 and says there will be stage 1 from 16:00 (and then progresses to stage 2 at around 17:00) I pretty much had load shedding EVERY DAY.

This was the slot where we made food for our kids. You can't make it earlier because you can't reheat it, and there's just some things that you can't make on top of a gas stove (and I can't afford to put in a proper one).

They updated the schedule today and my life will now be way easier.

But yeah, the fact that I'm "excited" over a load-shedding schedule change indicates how bad the whole thing has become.

Incidentally, is there stats somewhere where I can see what time and what stage load-shedding was for each day? Then you can calculate the probability of being load-shed in each slot.

I'm pretty sure it would make an interesting article for MyBB since there's definitely some metros out there that has terrible schedules and penalise some neighbourhoods by load-shedding them in the evening (regardless of the areas are close to hospitals / Gautrain stations / governmental areas or where the ANC needs support in the next election).

A friend in Europe laughed when I explained the concept of load shedding. Thought I was making it all up....
