Some of the areas deemed as orange (Hillbrow) or blue is questionable. Wouldn't read much into that

Pretty accurate for our suburb and surrounding suburbs which have regular house break ins, phone snatching and anything with a Toyota badge is fair game...

I would like to see the data normalised for population density. Obviously more people means more interactions.

Is it ironic that KZN is relatively peaceful? Or are the police so bad that they just don't record any reports of crime?

So much of this is perception; for example I quite often steal from my neighbours yet I've never had anyone steal from me. So from my point of view my neighbourhood is pretty safe.

They just is no safe place in SA, its a simple matter of when is it your turn to get robbed/scammed
Some places are far safer than others. So safe that old folks live alone without any worry. As I indicated in my previous comment, it's the proliferation of drugs that threaten these places.

Nobody trusts the police here anymore, so just does their own thing and doesn't really report crime.

I think the only time I report anything is for insurance purposes, otherwise why am I going to waste my time?
