This is whats going to happen.

ICASA revokes the SABC's broadcast licence. The SABC shuts down for a few days. People protest and burn things down.

The ANC intervenes and saves the day. Isidingo, Muvhango and 7de Laan come back online and all is well in the land.

Perfect pre-elections campaign in favour of the ruling party.

But I do agree and think it a good idea not to show protests where public property are being destroyed.
This is mostly done to get on the news

It said that it would still cover violent protests – but only the aftermath, with no live coverage as public property was being destroyed.
