This Samsung phone is the one most people should buy in 2024 (and it's not a flagship)

You can not go wrong considering it is only R6000.

Phone prices are crazy. I have the S23 that will keep me going for a bit but my ancient A50 has gone extremely sluggish. The A35 should make a decent replacement

An A35 isn't even a replacement for an S21 unless you need an sd card slot.

Just be careful if you buy from 3rd party sellers on Takealot, the warranty will probably not be valid in South Africa.

Additionally, it's important to mention that the phone does not include a charger or an eSIM feature.

Would you confirm your recommendation once you've used it for a few days, please?
I'm happy with the A35 overall. The screen is excellent—easy to read even in sunlight. The speakers are surprisingly good, especially considering it's just a phone. However, I'm a bit disappointed with the battery life; it won't last a full day if you use it heavily.

I primarily use it for browsing and watching YouTube, so I can't comment on other features.

Please note that it doesn't support eSIM.

If it doesn't have call recording it'll not be on my list.

In this day and age it is imperative to have call recording to cover your @ss but the cell providers don't want you to have it because then you can hold them accountable for their empty promises and spam etc.

One thing that annoys me with Samsung is the persistent push notifications. While you can disable many of them, some you can not (especially system apps).
