Cool stuff, my mom had a Jimny that we fixed with a pair of fake eyelashes

Cutest thing ever, but dad refused to drive it after that hehe.

Unfortunately she hurt her back & had to go for a softer ride so she traded it in for a SX4.

Absolutely brilliant little cars!

Mazeltov! :D

Delivery should be next week - as always, I couldn't get a Cape Town dealer to play ball, so its coming from Johannesburg (which has been a real pain in the arse this time with financing and insurance). Second car in a row I've bought from Johannesburg because of slack dealers in Cape Town, it also ends up slightly cheaper with delivery buying from Johannesburg. (OTR is cheaper, Smash and Grab is cheaper)

Its coming from Bryanston - so has their "Rhino edition" applied to it... making it look a little more manly. Replacing my trusty Hilux of 14 years. Was difficult, but she had to go.

Narrow, I'm tall and big - and fitting was fine? I understand the family bit - I'll deal with that end of next year.

I think I just have wide shoulders and they were against the door the entire time when I got in.

I still want one though, they should have just made it 5cm wider on each side.

Very underrated 4x4

Thought I'd update. Finally took delivery after various delivery delays. Replaced front speakers, installed rear speakers, and took out rear seats today, replaced with board.

Next up is headunit.... Android, with 3G... And barrier between back and seats.

Hopefully next weekend.

Wife and Neighbour were shocked at me stripping the entire rear, which is necessary to install speakers.

Necro a necro, but am considering getting one of these and just 2 questions. The fuel consumption and then travelling on highway at 120? Any good / bad? for the balance I am sold.

Wife had one. It gets a bit pap when travelling at 120km/h, but although we did not dice, I think it will beat my Defender 0-100Km/h and with top speed. (What vehicle does not beat a Defender? Hahaha!)

When the Jimny has a load, two adults, full tank and some luggage, it has an uncomfortable body roll going around the bends at 100km/h plus.

Off-road, well, there it really performs.

Consumption, did not really monitor it, but with the aircon on, it became thirsty.

Just take one for a test drive, as I remember now the dude at Suzuki said that body roll could be because of tyres other than those recommended by Suzuki.

Good notes, thanks!

I've been looking at these Jimnys. I need a tough little "do anything" run-around vehicle that's also narrow enough to park in my small parking area. I reckon it fits the bill, will likely give one a test drive later in the year.

How's the availability of Suzuki parts though? xrapidx, are you still driving yours?

Yip - you'll find you'll struggle loaded with even the slightest hill going over a 100. Also starts drinking fuel after 100km/h.

I get just below 10km/l at the moment with everything I've done. Off road, or with the roof rack loaded, between 7-8km/l.

The Jimny's does seem to have some risk of rolling. I know of a personal friend and distant friend that rolled theirs on a random bend. The Samurais does roll though, there was a big lawsuit way back in the 90s in the US about the Samurais rolling which resulted in the Jimny never taking off in the US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Motor_Corp._v._Consumers_Union_of_the_U.S.,_Inc.
The compact SUV Suzuki Samurai gained a reputation in the US market of being an unsafe car and prone to a rollover after Consumer Reports, the magazine arm of Consumers Union, reported that during a 1988 test on the short course avoidance maneuver (Consumer Union Short Course Double Lane Change, or CUSC for short), the Samurai experienced what they deemed as an unacceptable amount of tip-over while undertaking the severe turn.

I'm sure the Jimny is alot more stable, but at the end, it's still a case of , small-light car that are higher than most cars of that size = it is going to roll eventually if you push it.

Upgrading the suspension also helps with general drive-ability. I put in a 50mm EFS kit in December.
