A person in Washington State is infected with the Wuhan coronavirus, the first confirmed case in the United States of a mysterious respiratory infection that has killed at least six people and sickened hundreds more in Asia.
The man is a resident of Snohomish County, Wash., who experienced symptoms after returning from a trip to the region around Wuhan, China, where the outbreak began. He was hospitalized with pneumonia last week, and infection with the coronavirus was confirmed on Monday afternoon.
Local officials declined to identify the patient, who was said to be quite ill.
News of the first case in the United States comes amid growing evidence that the virus spreads from person to person, although it is not clear how easily.
The outbreak, which began in a seafood and poultry market in Wuhan, a city of 11 million, is spreading: Patients have been identified in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen, as well as Taiwan, Japan, Thailand and South Korea.

On Tuesday, Chinese authorities confirmed that six people have died of the infection in Wuhan. Nearly 300 cases have been reported to date in China. Many of the patients lived in or traveled to Wuhan.
The World Health Organization will meet tomorrow to decide whether to declare the outbreak an international public health emergency. But information about the new virus is still thin, and it’s not clear whether or how many Americans are at risk.

Could it be the beginning of the end of humanity? :D

I think living on top of each other with poor sanitation, and living in close proximity to animals are larger factors.
China does'nt have a problem with poor sanitation, and living next to animals has never being a factor to virus outbreaks. According to your thoughts, Africa should be the top with virus outbreaks. Look at Ebola, what was the cause? The people selling and eating bush meat

Do some basic reading up on where viruses come from and how they jump from animals to humans before posting nonsense.

Boiled dogs should be fine right? Since they are boiled, probably in pieces?

Im going to give you a grim picture

A dog that has not being bathed is put in a boiling water pot whilst alive (flea & ticks to add flavour), and the dog is cooked yelping till it dies. The faeces flow freely into into the dog soup and a group of 10 people hours later drink the gravy and eat the meat.

Thats what I mean. Thats a "receipe" for some unknown virus coming soon. SARS, Avian influenza, Swine flu etc etc.... They all come from animals. Animals that the Chinese love and eat

Ebola is believed to derive from Bush meat from apes. Viruses jumping from immune primates to humans.
Viruses are known to migrate between species. The ultimate evolutionary goal of a virus is to live either symbiotically or parasitically without harming the host. The viruses lifespan is then linked directly to the natural lifespan of the infected person. Humans have many viruses some even incorporated into our biological survival that do nothing except feed off our nutrients. When viruses migrate between species they are powerful and their hosts die quickly. The virus doesn't spread fast enough for long term survival and after an initial high contact - transmission rate. The virus is contained, our immune systems evolve and evolutions of the virus that are less lethal survive.
(This is rather compact explanation)

As for China being sanitary...

Legitimately? I have read and seen many articles about this practice, and not once was it described as you put it. I somehow doubt this is the grim reality as who in the right mind would actually want to eat that? Dog hair, poo etc etc... thats harder to believe than most things actually.

That said, I was only being facetious but I have doubts with your explanation. I also thought you said China doesnt have a hygiene sanitation issue? Based on the above, this comment seems ironic.

Your grim picture is a load of rubbish... The Chinese do strange and disturbing thing but the majority Def dont do what you have described.

The Plague... was carried by fleas on rats. It caused major upheaval in Europe. There are few other examples.

Well statistically the world is due for a global pandemic, seems like its on time.
Well according to the article 300 reported cases with 6 deaths only 2% so not a pandemic mortality rate.
If we were looking at 20% or more , well that would be cause for a little worry, maybe some concern.
