TikTok facing ban in the US

Two US senators called TikTok a Chinese surveillance tool, issuing a bipartisan warning as the Biden administration weighs a deal that could let the video-sharing app keep operating in the US.

“It’s not just the content you upload to TikTok but all the data on your phone, other apps, all your personal information, even facial imagery, even where your eyes are looking on your phone,” Arkansas Republican Tom Cotton said on “Fox News Sunday.”

Big difference being that the CCP are using it for strategic reasons. The CIA might be keeping tabs on American citizens, but that won't lead to IP theft etc. (The CIA won't steal IP from American companies)
